My boyfriend and I recently went fishing at Barren River in Glasgow, KY and caught these gar. Initially we thought they were spotted gar. I know the Army Corps of Engineers are re-introducing alligator gar in Barren River. After researching we believe we caught longnose and would appreciate any information you may be able to offer. We really enjoyed your website as a part of our research.
We caught (and released) these fish using 6 lb test on open reel and crawfish as bait with a bobber.
(In the picture attached with 2 gar, one was caught in our line and the other was on the hook! Fortunately we were able to safely free and release both!)
